The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation believes "Thriving Arts & Culture" are necessary for a Vibrant Community.  This annual program was established by the Community Foundation to honor professional artists living and working in Pierce County.  The award is possible thanks to a fund created at the Community Foundation to support the Pierce County art community. 

The $7,500 award recognizes Mangan’s talent and his commitment to the creative community of Pierce County.  This regionally significant award will result in a commissioned art piece for the Community Foundation, which was unveiled in Fall 2009.

A special thanks to our selection committee including Rock Hushka, director of curatorial administration at the Tacoma Art Museum; Amy McBride, Arts Administrator, City of Tacoma; Jp Avila, Professor of Art and co-chair of the Department of Art, Pacific Lutheran University; Rose Lincoln Hamilton, President and CEO, The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation; Kit Granum, Community Foundation Board Member, and Jim McDonald, local independent curator.
